Joan was owner/operator of The Pet Resort in Oklahoma City for 12 years. In 1994 she joined Best Friends Pet Care, Inc., the first chain of pet hotels in the US. She became Director of Training for the then 12-store chain and was instrumental in developing its standards of care. She served as District Manager and Regional Director while growing it to a 42-store 48 million dollar chain in 18 states. In 2005 she joined the executive team as Vice President of Operations, overseeing five district directors and 42 field managers.
Joan has been a leader in the industry and served on the Board of Directors of the Pet Care Services Association, a national trade association, and also served as chairman of its Ethics Committee. She is a licensed business consultant.
